TAPAS = snack
MONTADITO = food on bread
PINTXOS = food on a stick
This post review is about pintxos! Best pintxos ever are in
Donosti (San Sebastián, Basque Country, North of Spain). I had the
chance to be there a few weeks ago and, as always, the place and the
food just amazed me. Ok, this time it was the food and the place,
because I had such bad weather.
"Going pintxos" is always one of my favourites things to do
there. It's simple as going from bar to bar (pub crawling) and having pintxos and cañas (25 cl glass of beer) or a txakolí (basque white wine). Usually you have 1-2 pintxos and 1-2 drinks in one bar and
then move on to the second one.
TXANGURRO CREPPE
Txangurro is a basque name for a spider crab which has little meat but with lots of flavour. It was smooth in your mouth and very tasty.
Perfect to be served with a txangurro cream or a piquillo pepper sauce.
Better to eat it with a txakolí more than a beer
FOIE
Served in a layer of bread, if they give you good foie you don't need anything else more than some pinches of salt.
It is also very important not to cook it too much, otherwise, it looses its texture and taste.
If you can have a good red wine with it, it's perfect. Maybe a Ribera del Duero would match perfectly.

BEEF TACO WITH CEREALS
Amazing meat! In the end, as I said, it was only meat, but the pintxo was very stylish, served on a base of cereals and red wine reduction.
Moreover, the place was amazing. It is placed inside the San Telmo Museum, a very modern and open space where you can share good pintxos with people all over the world.
SQUID ROCK AND COD WITH VEGETABLES
Isn't this presentation just incredible? I actually asked myself what the rock thing was because it was very well rendered! It was art at the first sight, like the museum itself

So here is the litle gastro-tour I had. Hope you enjoyed it and don't hesitate to visit the Basque Country, it's magical!
