Homemade lemonade :: Limonada casera

Our lemon tree is giving out lemons like crazy. When the first one came out it was like "ooohh so cool". With the second one we said: "perfect, we are going to keep it in the fridge". But, tell me: how many lemons can you use daily? Not as many as my lemon tree can give!

Few weeks later, we realised we had an overstock: too many lemons and not too many ways to use them. So, after a failed attempt to make ice cream, I decided to make lemonade. But not the simple: mix water + lemon juice + sugar. Ok, somehow but with a little trick / tip I am going to share with you all (say thank you later! ;-)

Ingredients
  • 10 lemons (600 ml)
  • 600 ml of water
  • 450 gr of white sugar
  • Ice cubes
Elaboration

Basic guidelines but always good to know: wash the lemons and cut them in half. Squeeze them all until you get the juice and pour it in a pot.

Now, add the water and the sugar and bring it to cook for 2-3 minutes until the sugar melts. Yes, here is the trick! If you mix lemon juice + sugar + water the sugar goes down to the bottom and it never gets mixed properly.
Remove the pot from the stove, let it cool down and you have got the lemonade! But before drinking it, put it in the fridge for 2-3 hours.

After that time, serve it! Grab a jar, add some ice cubes, fill in with the lemonade and you are ready to enjoy it.

Fresh and homemade, what else? ;-)
